Join the Lawyer Referral Service

 

Since 1964 the Lawyer Referral Service has been a valuable MCBA member benefit as well as a public service. The Lawyer Referral Service (LRS) receives thousands of phone calls each year from individuals seeking legal counsel and representation. The program is designed to assist individuals who can pay normal attorney fees, but whose ability to locate legal representation is frustrated by a lack of experience with the legal system, a lack of information about the type of services needed, or a fear of the potential costs of seeing a lawyer. 

How it works: There are two ways for LRS clients to be referred to you. The traditional referral involves a client contacting the Lawyer Referral Service and explaining his or her legal problem to one of our LRS specialists. After evaluating the case, the LRS specialist will charge a $50 fee and match the client with an attorney who not only best fits their legal case need, but who also is within their geographical area. The client will then be provided with your contact information. The client will contact you or your office directly to schedule their consultation. The referral includes a consultation of up to 30 minutes directly with you. At that time, you can decide whether you can help them and discuss your fee arrangement.

In addition, the LRS also allows clients to complete their own referral online 24/7 through our website. Clients will self-identify the area of law in which they need assistance and then submit a brief description of their legal problem.  

Who can join: Any attorney who is in good standing with the state bar and who carries the required malpractice insurance.
