Tips for the Estate Planning Attorney: Government Benefits

This program will assist the estate planning attorney in drafting documents and provisions that may later prove useful and beneficial to obtain or maintain government benefits such as ALTCS and SSI.  While the clients and their beneficiaries may not come in looking for government benefits, having documents that will allow for planning later can prove to be very important.  You do not need to offer government benefits planning services, but your work will be appreciated if those services are needed later.

Emily B. Kile is a graduate of the Northeastern School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado, Boulder and holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from Boston College. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NEALA), past President of the Arizona Chapter (2008), and a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planners and the Special Needs Alliance. She is licensed to practice law in Arizona. She has been licensed to practice law since 1993. Emily serves on the Arizona Fiduciary Board . The Fiduciary Board oversees the discipline of fiduciaries licensed in the State of Arizona and approves requests for licensure. She practices in the areas of: estate planning, guardianship & conservatorship, ALTCS planning, probate & trust administration and special needs planning.

Emily's niece, Marisa, has Down Syndrome; allowing Emily some insight into issues faced by people with special needs and their families.  

Cancellations: the cost of the CLE will be credited to your MCBA account if the CLE is canceled in one of the two manners listed below:

 1) MCBA cancels or postpones the CLE or

 2) At least two business days prior to the program, MCBA receives your cancellation, in writing, via email at (cle@maricopabar.org). Please note a $25.00 administrative fee applies. 

If you registered and paid, but could not attend, you may request that materials be sent to you, free of charge.
