One of the great parts about living in central Arizona is the ability to take a road trip and find ourselves in completely different surroundings in a short amount of time. Valley residents make their way to places like Flagstaff and Sedona to escape the summer heat and take part in outdoor activities. Sedona is also home to one of the most unique festivals every fall, the Festival of Trees.

This year, the Festival of Trees begins on Thursday, December 3rd at Tlaquepaque (pronounced Tla-keh-pah-keh, an Aztec name that means “best of everything”). This premiere event features Art inspired trees vignettes created by area artists and galleries. All of them will have different themes and use different materials. The vignettes will be constructed both inside and outside the Tlaquepaque shopping area.

Originally built to become an artist community, Tlaquepaque is a beautiful setting for artisans to work and for the public to view their work. The Mexican-village style arts center sits along the banks of Oak Creek and has been a landmark since its construction in the 1970s. Tlaquepaque contains over 40 specialty shops and exclusive art galleries and the Festival of Trees is one of the most visually stunning annual events in the village.

Pre-decorated trees will be on display on the 2nd floor terrace with silent auction bid sheets alongside them. Bidding will run through Saturday, December 5th at 7 p.m. and you’ll be able to check your bid while listening to live music and enjoying great food and beverages during the Holiday Wrap Up Party. Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Toys for Tots and other local charity organizations.
