While pizza in all its forms is still pizza, and therefore awesome, maybe you can tell a lot about a city by how many quality pizza options it has.  Thankfully, the Greater Phoenix area has a very respectable selection.  Here’s a look at some of the best pizza options in town.

The King of Pizza in Phoenix.

Pizzeria Bianco is the well-established creation of Chef Chris Bianco, who has become nationally recognized for his artisanal pizzas since opening the establishment back in 1987.  After moving the original location to downtown Phoenix’s Heritage Square, Bianco gained national attention when the pizzeria was rated as the best pizza in the United States by Bon AppétitVogueRachael Ray,and Andrew Zimmern, and has also been recognized by Martha StewartOprah WinfreyGQ, and Gourmet.  Bianco’s newest venture, Italian Restaurant at Town & Country, also offers three pizzas regularly, a Margherita, a Marinara, and a Market pizza.  Find out where to taste the best pizza in town at

Downtown Phoenix’s Prized Possession.

Are you looking for great pizza and a classic Italian atmosphere?  Head to another downtown favorite, Cibo Pizzeria.  Housed in a small cottage on the corners of 5th Avenue and Fillmore Street, Cibo’s the perfect spot for a cozy dinner with a special someone.  Before coming to America, Chef Guido Saccone traveled his native Italy as a pizzaiolo, perfecting the art of the pizza.  Today, he brings delicious wood-fired pies covered with top grade prosciutto, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano and San Marzano tomatoes.  Try a classic favorite or go for a more traditional pie.  Find them at

Looking for Chicago-Style?

Phoenix may still be establishing itself as a pizza city, but luckily, we have plenty of influences to draw from.  Since moving to Phoenix from Chicago back in 1971, Ken and Elaine Spinato have created a Chicago-Style pizzeria that has become an East Valley favorite.  Spinato’s has since expanded to a total of five locations in Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale and Ahwatukee and have won several “best pizza” awards from several publications, and if you have a quiet evening of one or two, or a party of several, the pies come in many different sizes!  Find your closest Spinato’s at
