Maricopa County Reads

From June 1, 2016 to August 1, 2016, Maricopa County Reads will be at 62 public libraries to reinforce the literary skills and positive reading habits of residents. Programs range from kids to teens and even to adults. Don’t miss out on this free program that will keep your mind active and will keep your kids reading skills up to par.

The reading program strives to:

  • Emphasize the fun in reading using an interactive online platform, digital badging campaigns, paper reading logs with stickers and coupons
  • Promote lifelong reading habits by encouraging participants to read at least 20 minutes a day
  • Help build home libraries when you log at least 20 minutes of reading per day and the program will provide a free book to participants
  • Connect readers with community experiences by partnering with local organizations that will give new context to traditional literary methods
  • Keep kids reading throughout the summer by encouraging effective reading practices and maintaining and improving reading skills even while they’re on a break from school
  • Improve grammar through the online platform where participants can set personal goals, complete challenges and achieve higher levels of rewards and engagement
